With everything you need to do before you move out, post and parcels can some times slip down the list. But, it's important to keep a few things in mind when it comes to deliveries close to your departure.
Updating your address
As soon as you move out, you'll need to update your address on MYUWE. The new address should be where you are living at that moment, be it at a family or friend's house, your next student house or a new room on campus.
Once you change it on MYUWE, it will automatically update on other UWE systems.
Tip: update your own online address book as well. If you use Google Chrome you can change it in your account and then set that as default to auto-fill when ordering from new places. It's worthwhile checking other accounts at places you frequently order from as well. That way your Amazon or ASOS parcel won't come to campus by mistake.
Last orders
When should you stop ordering to campus? A good rule of thumb would be around two weeks before you expect to move out for UK post, and around four weeks for international deliveries. That might seem like a long time, but it's better to be sure that you'll receive your delivery while you live here.
If the place you're moving to can accept orders before you arrive, have them sent there. For instance, if you're moving back to your parents for the summer, you could have your orders shipped there and they'll be waiting for you when you move back.
Remember: Accommodation Services only have enough room to hold post for current residents. We cannot hold it over the summer or forward it on. If you do not collect your parcel by the requested date, it will be donated to UWE's Sustainability Hub.
Late deliveries
Sometimes, items can take longer to arrive than you expect.
If this does happen, please email Accommodation Services as soon as possible to arrange collection, either by yourself or a friend. Customer Services cannot forward on any deliveries to your new address or store them over the summer, so it must be collected.
Final checks
Before you drop off your keys and wave goodbye to your campus home, don't forget to check your post box one last time. If you've forgotten the padlock code, email Accommodation Services and they'll send it to you.
Make sure you have collected all parcels as well. Customer Services will email you when it is ready to collect either from one of the lockers or from the desk.
